ArmInfo. Now all three co-chairs have one issue on their agenda, not only a ceasefire, but also its observance. Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan stated this in an interview with journalists.
Kocharyan noted that it is impossible for a ceasefire to be constantly declared and then violated. Shavarsh Kocharyan stressed that at the current stage the three co-chairs have one task, which is to reach a common denominator through compromises. According to him, the second task is to prevent the resumption of hostilities. As for the reaction of international bodies, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted: "There are different reactions. The clarity of the position is very important. There are many points that do not suit us. The Artsakh Republic should not be considered as a territory, just because it is not recognized. Can people enjoy basic human rights there? People should not be differentiated according to their place of residence."
According to Kocharyan, in the 90s the situation in Armenia and Artsakh was much more difficult, but in spite of everything the Armenians were able to withstand. "Now we should realize that everything is decided on the battlefield. The situation is very difficult for us, because people are dying every day. But you should also realize that it is about ensuring security, and this is our duty. Moreover, Turkey is already openly speaking not only about the war, but also about the Armenian genocide, "he said.
The Deputy Foreign Minister noted that victory on the battlefield gives much wider opportunities for diplomats.
When asked why Armenia has not yet applied to the CSTO, Kocharyan stated that in order to apply to this body, it is necessary that aggression be carried out in the relations of Armenia. But shelling of the border regions of Armenia is not regarded as aggression. The Deputy Minister also said that the heads of Armenia and Russia are constantly in touch and exchange information. While this is enough, if necessary, appropriate measures will be taken.
