ArmInfo. The ceasefire announced from midnight on the line of contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani troops is indefinite. This was stated at a briefing in Stepanakert by the adviser to the President of Karabakh David Babayan.
According to him, the truce itself is indefinite, although some Azerbaijani officials say that it has been announced for several days. "There is nothing of the kind. If they talk about several days, then they are going to resort to new provocations. But this ceasefire is indefinite," Babayan said. He added that the main thing for the Karabakh side now is to avoid new casualties. Moreover, a critical epidemic situation has developed on the line of contact, since, according to him, Azerbaijan does not take the bodies of those killed.
David Babayan noted that the humanitarian ceasefire regime operates in some parts of the contact line in Karabakh, but there are areas in which Azerbaijan is trying to break through the defense. A particularly difficult situation is observed in the southern direction, where the main target of the Azerbaijani military is the Khudaferdi reservoir on the Araks river bordering Iran. "The enemy is trying to disable or seize this strategically important node in order to gain leverage over Iran," Babayan said.
However, according to him, all these actions are successfully suppressed by units of the Defense Army and volunteers. "I think the enemy will continue active operations in some areas," Babayan said. Recall that this morning, the Azerbaijani side once again, having violated the declared humanitarian truce, resumed military operations in the zone of the Karabakh conflict. Especially fierce battles unfolded in the southern direction of the front.
