ArmInfo. A thorough exchange of views on the situation in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict took place between the presidents of Russia and Iran, Vladimir Putin and Hassan Rouhani, during a telephone conversation initiated by the Iranian side.
According to the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin briefed his Iranian counterpart in detail about efforts being undertaken with the mediation of Russia to de-escalate tensions in the region. The Iranian President expressed support for the agreements reached following the results of trilateral consultations of the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on a ceasefire for humanitarian purposes, as well as on the launch of substantive negotiations for the earliest possible achievement of a peaceful settlement.
It should be noted that yesterday, in Moscow on the 12th day of hostilities in the zone of the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict, a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia took place. However, the Armenian defense department reported that ignoring the humanitarian ceasefire announced on October 10 from 12:00, Azerbaijani units launched an attack on the Karakhambeyli area at 12:05pm, and Artsakh Defense Army units took appropriate measures to suppress the enemy's attack. The fighting continued in other sectors of the front.
