The countries of  the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf issued a  statement on the situation in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh  conflict.  "The countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab  States of the Gulf expressed their deep concern over the ongoing war  between the two neighboring countries, the Republic of Azerbaijan and  the Republic of Armenia, over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and  expresses deep regret over the deaths and injuries on both sides.

Council General Secretary Naif Falah Mubarak al-Hajraf said that the  Cooperation Council calls on Azerbaijan and Armenia to cease fire and  start comprehensive negotiations to reach a comprehensive political  solution in accordance with Security Council resolutions and  international law. This conflict threatens security and stability in  the Caucasus region and international peace.

He called on the UN Security Council to immediately fulfill its  ceasefire commitments and make efforts to achieve a political  solution to the conflict, protect the lives of civilians and ensure  security and peace in this sensitive region of the world, "the  organization said in a statement.
