ArmInfo. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg calls on the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to immediately stop hostilities and begin negotiations. He stated this at a joint press conference in Ankara with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
"We are very worried about the situation in Karabakh. This conflict poses a risk to all areas, including energy. This is a very dangerous situation for the entire region, and for the members of the alliance as well. We call on all parties to the conflict to immediately end the war and sit down at the negotiating table. There is no military solution to the problem, "the NATO Secretary General emphasized, while expressing regret for the deaths of civilians as a result of the escalation.
In turn, Cavusoglu assured that "NATO should urge Armenia to withdraw its forces from Nagorno- Karabakh," recalling that the alliance supports calls to ensure "the territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine."
"So why not urge Armenia to leave the Azerbaijani lands in this case?" - asked the Turkish minister, while forgetting that these are originally Armenian territories. In his words, "everyone should do this, including NATO."
