Boris Podoprigora: There are prerequisites for granting a special  status to Karabakh

ArmInfo.Now several major political players are  engaged in helping Azerbaijan.  Thus, Turkey is openly on the side of  Baku, and there is evidence of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tel  Aviv. This was stated by the well-known conflictologist and  orientalist Boris Podoprigora in his commentary to "PolitExpert"  about the situation around the Nagorno-Karabkh military conflict.  

"The information that Azerbaijan received military-technical  assistance from Israel is semi-official, but inspires confidence. It  says a lot. This means that there was a go-ahead from the US. In my  opinion, Israel does not help anyone if the US does not make such a  decision. will approve, "the political scientist said.  According to  him, at the moment Israel is one of the main suppliers of weapons for  Azerbaijan. The Baku army has ATMOS 2000 artillery units, Spike  anti-tank missile systems, LAR-160 multiple launch rocket systems,  Aerostar drones and other weapon systems in its arsenal. In return,  Tel Aviv receives oil and gas.

From this, the expert believes, the following factor arises, making  the conflict regional: Iran has got in between all the countries  involved in the conflict, which is trying with all its might to  maintain neutrality, having tense relations with Turkey and Israel.  Podoprigora notes that Tehran traditionally views such political  movements as provocations against the Iranian regime.

Boris Podoprigora believes that Russia in the history of Karabakh  should act as a part of a serious political force. In his opinion,  this contested territory should be given international status as a  temporary enclave.  And Moscow and other major world players should  act as its guarantors. There is no other way out, in his opinion.   "Well, or wait until the fighting fervor, and at the same time the  armament of the sides, will decrease so much that it will not be  before the war. But I am afraid that this is not the case, because  Turkey is quite openly on the side of Azerbaijan. This is the whole  complexity of the situation. I do not exclude that several factors  were deliberately compressed: Belarusian, our internal problems and  added the factor of the South Caucasus. I am afraid that it may not  find any acceptable solution in the foreseeable future, "the  orientalist believes.  However, the expert is sure that there are  preconditions for assigning a special status to Karabakh. Russian and  French Presidents Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron expressed grave  concern over the ongoing escalation of the Karabakh conflict between  Armenian and Azerbaijani forces. The leaders of the countries  exchanged views on this issue during a telephone conversation. They  also reiterated their calls for the return of peace to this  territory.
