ArmInfo. Most likely, in the near future, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will call Russian President Vladimir Putin. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by the head of the department of Eurasian integration and development of the SCO of the Institute of CIS countries, military expert Vladimir Evseev.
"This call has not yet been received, since Aliyev had too much reliance on Turkish colleague Recep Erdogan. However, against the background of very significant losses in personnel, weapons, military equipment and aviation, as well as the front line restored by the Armenian military, I believe that this will happen very soon," the expert emphasized.
Over the past day alone, the Azerbaijani army has lost at least 830 servicemen, Artur Sargsyan, Deputy Commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, told reporters. The enemy also lost 39 armored vehicles, 4 Su- 25 aircraft, 3 MI-24 helicopters and 17 UAVs. One Azerbaijani artillery battalion was completely destroyed.
Evseev also pointed to the need for intervention in the situation by the permanent members of the UN Security Council. The latter, in his opinion, should strongly condemn Turkish intervention in the conflict and demand from Baku an immediate cessation of hostilities. According to him, such a response of the international community, adequate to the developing rather alarming situation, will prevent the initiation of new aggression by Aliyev in the future.
According to the Russian expert , under the current conditions, little is required from Aliyev, that is, the implementation of the four notorious resolutions of the UN Security Council, which are so fond of mentioning in Baku, more specific the first paragraph, which refers to the immediate cessation of hostilities. According to Evseyev, constantly interpreting the resolutions in his own way and in his own favor, referring to international law, Aliyev must understand that he is the gross violator of this right.
"In this light, until stabilization on the front line, which I hope will soon come, negotiations are meaningless. If stabilization is accompanied by Armenian control over new territories, it will make sense to negotiate their exchange for the height captured by the Azerbaijanis in April 2016. I am convinced that Baku's vicious practice of "biting off" territories can be stopped exclusively by local offensive operations. Further negotiations will be possible only after that," the military expert summed up.
