ArmInfo. Today, the first of four virtual sessions of the US- Armenia Strategic Dialogue took place. The press service of the US Embassy in Armenia reports.
The report notes that even in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, Armenia and the United States continue to work together to implement common goals and improving the lives of citizens.
On the American side, the meeting was chaired by Alexander Sokolovsky, Deputy Assistant Director of USAID for Europe and Eurasia, and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Kara MacDonald, with Armenian - Deputy Justice Minister Christine Grigoryan and Chairman of the Commission on Prevention of Corruption Haykui Harutyunyan.
The discussions focused on the successes achieved in the implementation of priority democratic reforms for Armenia, including in the anti-corruption sphere and in reforming the judicial and legal area, as well as further actions in this direction.
The participants touched upon the key steps already taken in Armenia in the fight against corruption, including the creation of a new Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, which was created with the ongoing support of USAID. The strategic dialogue will continue this fall, with a final meeting in Washington next month.
