ArmInfo. The real level and content of relations between Moscow and Yerevan is evidenced in the Su-30 fighters, and not in the person of Robert Kocharyan and the vicissitudes associated with it. Political scientist Levon Shirinyan expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.
"In this light, defendant Kocharyan should not teach Putin how to correctly form the Caucasian direction of politics, but deal with his own problems, of which today, as we know, there are a great many. Historically, a certain part of the Armenians taught Russians the correct policy towards Armenia since the time of the Rurik dynasty. In reality, Russians know perfectly well how to conduct this policy without us and, of course, in their own interests," he stressed.
According to Shirinyan's estimates, today Russian policy towards Armenia is based on concrete facts, and not on the results of someone's imagination sucked out of the finger. A concrete fact is the appearance of fighter aircraft in Armenia. Another concrete fact is the Russian weapon that was successfully used during the Tavush escalation by Armenian servicemen, by the way, also trained in Russia.
Thus, despite some nervousness in some circles in Russia, despite the defeatist moods of their "sixes" in Armenia, the real Armenian-Russian relations, according to the political scientist, continue to develop effectively. As a result, Moscow is no longer actively listening to the messages emanating from various "kocharyans" from Armenia.
"Moreover, Moscow is well aware that defending a person criminally persecuted in Armenia, Russia will one day lose its" soft power "in Armenia. At the same time, all Armenians are dissatisfied with such actions, and not only its part living in Armenia. So far, all this, let's say, does not really bother Moscow.
However, the tendencies I mentioned above in the Armenian-Russian relations are obvious. After all, Putin has no time for Kocharyan today. He needs to somehow save Lukashenko," the political scientist summed up.
