ArmInfo.Representatives of the commandant's office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs deal with all issues related to the opening of borders. Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan stated this in an interview with journalists.
Note that a protest action is taking place in front of the government building. The protesters are demanding that the borders be opened so that they can go to Russia to work. The protesters said that in Russia they had property, work and families. They ask government representatives to give them the opportunity to leave Armenia. "The Office of the Ombudsman for Diaspora Affairs does not deal with such issues. We are dealing with issues related to the connection between Armenia and the Diaspora. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the commandant's office are negotiating on the issue of opening the borders, "Sinanyan stressed. The Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs also noted that Armenia cannot oblige Russia to open the border. "I understand that now there are citizens in the country who cannot go to Russia, where they have a home, job, business or family. But we cannot oblige another country to open the border and receive our citizens. They cannot leave, not on our whim, but due to the fact that the borders are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. I am sure that the commandant's office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia will be able to inform about the stage of negotiations on the opening of borders, "Sinanyan stressed.
