ArmInfo. Yerevan Municipality purchased 100 new small class buses. Press Secretary of Mayor's Office Hakob Karapetyan announced this on his Facebook page. Karapetyan stated that a difficult situation with transport has developed in the capital.
<This problem had to be solved. However, from time to time, various difficulties arose due to the unpredictability of the procurement process in the conditions of coronavirus, etc. The Mayor's Office purchased 100 small class buses, which are very comfortable. They are equipped with air conditioning, a credit card payment system and a GPS system, their height will allow passengers to stand upright in the cabin, the buses are also equipped with a fire system, are wheelchair accessible and have a number of other advantages," the press secretary emphasized.
Karapetyan also noted that the competition has already ended and in the next few days the evaluation committee will make a conclusion, after which the process of supplying vehicles will follow. The latter also stressed that the leadership of Yerevan has not bought public transport at its own expense for a long time.
"At the same time, I want to note that the purchase of these buses does not mean at all that the Mayor's Office has refused to buy 12-meter length buses. On the contrary, a new tender will be announced for the purchase of large 12-meter length buses. Transport reform is the main priority of the Yerevan Municipality, and it will be implemented," said the press secretary of the Municipality.
To note, on August 31, during a press conference, a member of the Council of Elders from the "Luys" faction (Light - Ed.) David Khazhakyan stated that the Yerevan Municipality does not intend to buy new large buses. According to Khazhakyan, the competition announced in April did not take place, and the Mayor's Office intends to replace the old "Gazelle" minibuses with new ones.
