ArmInfo. Ankara did not ignore the statement of the Armenian Foreign Ministry on the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Thus, according to Anadolu, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hami Aksoy criticized Yerevan, condemning the statement on the Eastern Mediterranean.
"We see that Armenia, which is trying to present its opinion on the Eastern Mediterranean, is in a fundamental misconception regarding the world geography and its place in this geography. This is not about Lake Sevan, but about the Eastern Mediterranean," Aksoy said.
At the same time, he did not calm down on this, assuring that supposedly after Armenia's "provocative statement on the Treaty of Sevres," her commentary on the Eastern Mediterranean is another manifestation of irresponsibility.
Aksoy noted that this demonstrates an insidious alliance against Turkey, Armenia, which does not have access to the Mediterranean Sea, believes that it has the right to talk about the region, just as the UAE and France have nothing to do with the Mediterranean.
"Whatever happens, Turkey will defend its rights and the rights of the Turkish Cypriots in the Eastern Mediterranean, arising from international law. No alliance of evil can prevent this. Those who think otherwise have not learned the lesson from history," he added adding that Turkey supports fraternal Azerbaijan with all its might.
It should be noted that on August 15 the Armenian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea.
"We are closely following the latest developments and naval mobilization in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean region resulting from the illegal and provocative actions of Turkey. Such a destabilizing position in the Eastern Mediterranean demonstrates Turkey's consistently aggressive and expansionist policies in neighboring regions. We reaffirm the unconditional support and solidarity of Armenia with Greece and Cyprus and call on Turkey to take steps to reduce tension, respect international law and suspend all actions in the exclusive economic zones of Greece and Cyprus, "the RA Foreign Ministry said.
