ArmInfo. On August 5, the 15-day deadline for the execution of the decision of the European Court of Human Rights expired, according to which the ECHR demanded that the Armenian government provide immediate treatment to the former RA Minister of Finance, former head of the SRC Gagik Khachatryan in a civil hospital. This is stated in a statement by Khachatryan's team of lawyers.
`` In fact, since July 21 of this year (when the ECHR partially satisfied the petition of Khachatryan's lawyers regarding his treatment - ed. note), the RA Government has not taken a single reasonable step to provide adequate treatment in the presence of obvious threats to the life and health of an Armenian citizen. For months, a team of lawyers has stated that 64-year-old Gagik Khachatryan, who has been illegally detained for 11 months, needs immediate surgical treatment of spinal stenosis, failure to comply and delay in the implementation of which poses serious and irreversible risks to his future health and life>, the statement reads.
To note, Gagik Khachatryan is accused of large-scale embezzlement and abuse of office. Gagik Khachatryan and his relative Karen Khachatryan (a former employee of the State Revenue Committee) were charged under part 2 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code (Embezzlement or waste of funds on an especially large scale) and part 2 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code (Abuse of official powers, resulting in grave consequences by negligence). Earlier, the press secretary of the Prime Minister Mane Gevorgyan wrote on Facebook that, according to the information available to the Armenian government, Gagik Khachatryan and his sons were in charge of the corruption, mafia system that has been operating in Armenia for many years, as a result of which illegal wealth has accumulated for several hundred million dollars. It was also indicated that members of the Khachatryan family at a meeting with various officials expressed their readiness to return the loot.
