ArmInfo. Robert Kocharyan has long lost his political shape, although he tries to create the impression that this is not the case. A member of the political initiative , lawmaker of the Armenian parliament Arman Babajanyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"Kocharyan is trying to demonstrate that he keeps an eye on the ball, possesses information and is generally an active politician. However, analyzing his own judgments and assessments, it is easy to understand that in reality he is already extremely far from practical, real politics and today acts exclusively as an observer ", - he stressed.
According to the lawmaker, the former president did not mention any special considerations, ideas and thoughts in his latest interview. According to Babajanyan, in the interviews there were already well-known, standard, hackneyed formulations built on stereotypes, an attempt at criticism, etc. Thus, the wording of the person who ruled the country for 10 years was no different from the wording of the average analyst or propagandist from Kocharyan's team.
On July 29, in an interview with "Yerkir Media", "5th Channel" and "Second Armenian TV" TV companies, former President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan criticized practically all directions of the current authorities' policy. Assessing policy in the Artsakh issue, in relation to Russia, as well as the social and economic situation in the country as unsatisfactory the former president noted that "in the current reality, the political situation in Armenia can change dramatically."
Kocharyan, according to Babajanyan's estimates, is one of the leaders whose every word works against him. When even the most simple, indisputable truths, voiced by Kocharyan are projected for the years of his presidency, these truths immediately begin to work against him. "Today Armenia really feels the need for a strong opposition. This is indisputable. But does a person, who during the years of his presidency has consistently destroyed politics as a phenomenon in general and opposition political parties in particular, have any right to talk about this?" the lawmaker wondered.
Babajanyan is convinced of the reassessment of the level of public support for all persons speaking in opposition today in Armenia. In his opinion, such persons still think that money, which they have so much, is enough for successful political activity. Meanwhile, this is a deep delusion - money has only a technical, organizational value. Success in politics requires ideas, thoughts, programs and, most importantly, public support. All those who represent themselves as opposition today, are completely devoid of this, including Kocharyan.
"Kocharyan and other representatives of former authorities continue to be delusional based on objective reasons. During their term in office, these people had everything except public legitimacy. Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan simply do not know what public trust is and what legitimacy is. Accordingly, all their judgments about the current government and its prospects are based on this false start. It is this deep delusion that led Kocharyan to such a detachment from reality, which allows him to predict a change of power, endowed with the trust of more than 70% of society. Yes, over the past 2 years this indicator decreased, but it did not drop so much that the power in the country could be changed in a few simple steps, "Babajanyan concluded.
