ArmInfo. Armenia has a real chance to overcome the coronavirus crisis in September. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this on July 30 during a regular government meeting. He noted that the situation has improved significantly over the past 15 days, stressing in this vein that for the first time in the republic since June 15, the number of patients receiving treatment in medical institutions was less than 9 thousand. In addition, the prime minister drew attention to the fact that over the past 6 days, cases of coronavirus infection do not exceed 400 people per day.
"This all means that we have a chance to" break the backbone "of this pandemic, which places a special responsibility on the shoulders of each of us," the head of government stressed. He noted that today the state faces the task of removing the pandemic issue from the public agenda. However, this does not mean that the cases of infection will be equated to zero. In this regard, Pashinyan explained that such a development of events would make it possible not to perceive the pandemic as a crisis in terms of health care. "And today we really have this chance. And its realization depends on us, government agencies and the level of responsibility of each citizen. These positive prerequisites should not make us let down our guard. Because the opportunity that we have, unfortunately, is not guaranteed, and we can miss it if we do not properly treat the situation, "he said.
The Prime Minister noted with regret that by the end of the tourist season Armenia will not resume regular flights. In this context, he urged to take advantage of the possibilities of domestic tourism. At the same time, he instructed the inspection bodies to ensure control over the observance of sanitary and epidemiological rules in sanatoriums, recreation areas, etc.
"There is no doubt that the improvement of the situation is associated with an increase in the awareness of citizens and the observance of sanitary and epidemiological rules. Wearing masks has become a cornerstone, which helps to improve the effectiveness of efforts in the fight against coronavirus. Therefore, I urge to strictly continue to comply with the instructions of the Commandant's Office, in particular, wear masks, constantly disinfect hands, observe social distance, "the head of government concluded.
It should be noted that as of 11:00am on July 30, 259 new cases of coronavirus infection were registered in Armenia, while the number of recovered was 542. During the past day, 5 people aged from 55 to 90 years old died from COVID-2019, who were diagnosed with concomitant chronic diseases. A total of 161,754 tests were performed.
