Thus, in the message of the Armenian National Committee of America received by ArmInfo (ANCA notes that the amendment envisages assistance to Artsakh in the amount of $ 1.4 million to continue demining by the organization HALO Trust.
In June, 75 congressmen from 23 US states sent a letter to the Subcommittee on External Operations of the Appropriations Committee of the US House of Representatives with a proposal to provide $ 1.5 million, congressmen propose to send as assistance to Artsakh: for the demining of territories and the rehabilitation of mine victims. The congressmen also called on the subcommittee to stop assisting Azerbaijan as a country subjecting Armenia and Artsakh to aggression.
It should be noted that the British charity and American non-profit organization engaged in the clearance of land mines and unexploded ordnance, which can pose a danger to civilians, HALO Trust has been carrying out a mine clearance program in Artsakh since 1998. The completion of the program was announced this year.
HALO is an acronym for Hazardous Area Life-Support organization. Founded by British MP and former British Army Colonel Colin Campbell Mitchell in 1988. The HALO Trust employs over 7,000 engineers. Its employees worked in Nagorno-Karabakh, Cambodia, Mozambique, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Eritrea, Abkhazia, Chechnya, Kosovo, Angola and Afghanistan.
