ArmInfo. On a global scale, Armenia sets anti-records for the coronavirus. On June 26, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a briefing.
According to him, today, in terms of the number of virus carriers per one million people, as well as in the number of daily new cases, Armenia occupies a leading position in the world. The prime minister pointed out that violations of the anti-epidemiological rules continue to take place, as well as the facts of the spread of misinformation about COVID-19. In addition, a case was revealed when a patient with a coronavirus, knowing about his diagnosis, continued to work as a taxi driver. According to this fact, as the head of the Cabinet informed, a criminal case has already been opened.
Pashinyan said that Armenia, if there is no positive trend in the spread of coronavirus, could in the near future begin to tighten anti-epidemiological measures. "This package of tightening may have different directions," he said. "We never ruled out that we could go through total restrictions, thereby breaking the" backbone "of our economy, but saving lives," Pashinyan emphasized. He also said that the issue of reducing the time between imposing and collecting an administrative fine for not wearing a mask is being discussed.
The Prime Minister recalled that recently, representatives of the WHO visited Armenia, who reaffirmed that today there are no other more effective measures to combat COVID-19 than wearing a mask, hand hygiene and maintaining social distance.
In total, 23,247 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the republic, 12149 people recovered, 410 died, 10557 patients receive actual treatment.
