ArmInfo. The decision of the Supreme Judicial Council at the motion of head of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Rustam Badasyan on instituting disciplinary procedures against Judge Alexander Azaryan will be issued on July 9 at 2:10 pm. This was announced according to the results of the June 25 meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council to review the motion.
To recall, the Ministry of Justice filed a petition on instituting disciplinary procedures against Judge Alexander Azaryan on the basis of the appeal by the head of the Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan. The reason for the appeal was the statement by Judge Azaryan (judge in the case of the owner of the <5th channel> Armen Tavadyan) about Sasun Khachatryan during the dialogue between the judge and the SIS investigator Musheghyan. In particular, according to information posted on the Ministry of Justice's official website, Judge Azaryan, in particular, said the following: "I hope that the investigator will not to sink to the level of the head of the SIS and will not challenge the legality of a judicial act that has entered into legal force".
Earlier, Minister Badasyan, in particular, noted that Azaryan violated the rules of conduct and, on duty, showed an unfair attitude to the participant in the trial and his superior. And the result of this, he said, was the impression of bias and discrimination. Meanwhile, according to the opinion of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, voiced in 2015, comments and criticism of a representative of one of the branches of government about a representative of the other wing should be voiced in an environment of mutual respect, and the judiciary should be extra vigilant in this matter.
