ArmInfo. The time has come to admit that we were not able to convince our citizens to comply with the requirements of the authorities to comply with anti- epidemiological measures in the fight against a new type of coronavirus pandemic - we are talking about masks. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a briefing on June 15.
According to him, despite the numerous demands of the authorities at different levels - from the commandant's office to the introduction of administrative fines, citizens do not wear masks en masse. At the same time, he assured that to date, the most effective method of combating COVID-19 are masks. To reinforce his words, the Armenian Prime Minister cited a study by foreign scientists published in Forbes, according to which, masks significantly reduce the risks of infection and are the most effective mechanism to combat the spread of the virus. At the same time, the head of the executive body assured that initially the Armenian government proposed the three most effective methods of combating coronavirus, namely maintaining social distance, constant disinfection and wearing masks.
Pashinyan added that research by scientists also proved the inefficiency of quarantine and restrictive measures in the fight against a pandemic, since after their removal there is a sharp increase in the number of cases.
At the same time, the head of government threatened to tighten administrative measures against those who do not comply with the requirement to wear masks everywhere.
"We are on the right track in the fight against the pandemic. But we must comply with the requirement to wear masks everywhere. Scientists have found that the virus remains in the air for several tens of minutes. That's why these masks must be worn everywhere, even in the park. "Either we will not overcome this virus, or we will overcome after those who have to die will die, and then the numbers will decline," the Armenian Prime Minister said.
In conclusion, he once again urged citizens to wear masks everywhere and take them off only while eating food, and not to be indifferent to those who don't wear them, make comments to them, create such an atmosphere in the republic that it would be embarrassing not to wear masks . He expressed his conviction that there are no positive trends in the republic today, as citizens do not wear masks in large numbers. "Wear masks to save your life," summed up Pashinyan.
The Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Torosyan made the same appeal to citizens, who stated that today the picture of those infected in the republic is such that there is infection of people at addresses close to each other. He also advised people from vulnerable groups to wear special medical masks, and to other citizens masks of any kind, including home tailoring.
