ArmInfo.On June 12, human rights activists who were detained during protest rally near the RA National Assembly building were released.
To recall, the protesters demanded that the government allow peaceful assemblies during the state of emergency in the country. Meanwhile, for violation of the restrictions applicable to the state of emergency, the protesters, former Ombudsman of Artsakh Ruben Melikyan and human rights activists Robert Hayrapetyan, Armen Galstyan and Babken Harutyunyan were detained. A similar measure was taken against a number of citizens protesting in front of the Police Department.
After his release, Robert Hayrapetyan noted that he considers the actions of the police to be unlawful. According to him, a protocol on an administrative offense was drawn up against four participants in the protest action. It should be noted that since March 16, in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, the state of emergency was introduced in Armenia, during which various meetings are prohibited. During an extraordinary government meeting on June 12, it was decided to extend the state of emergency until July 13.
