ArmInfo. The solution to the problem associated with coronavirus I see in the cooperation of citizens with the government. On June 12, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a special meeting of the National Assembly of Armenia.
The prime minister noted, unfortunately, the reasons that prompted the government to introduce a state of emergency did not disappear, so the government decided to extend the state of emergency. Coronavirus continues to spread in Armenia. <To date, the number of confirmed cases is 15.281.
5.639 people were cured, 258 people died from coronavirus, 4 more patients infected with coronavirus died, from other diseases. 425 people are in critical condition, 100 patients are in extremely critical condition, 27 citizens are on the ventilator>, the head of the Cabinet emphasized.
Pashinyan noted that the country's healthcare system is operating in an overloaded mode. According to him, out of 1.857 hospital beds according to the situation as of June 11, 1.551 were occupied, out of 239 beds in intensive care 204. <We continue to increase the number of both ordinary hospital beds and beds in intensive care, but the situation is extremely difficult, and we need to find a way out of it. Our approach has not changed, the spread of coronavirus is associated not so much with health problems, but with the behavior and non-observance of anti-epidemiological standards by our citizens. The solution to this issue is in our hands. If citizens begin to observe all security measures, only then we can overcome this situation. The situation with coronavirus will last at least a year and a half, according to some forecasts, this situation will stretch to 5 years. Work is underway to create a vaccine, but it is not known exactly when it will be created. So, we hope for the best, but we should prepare for the worst>, the prime minister emphasized.
The head of the Cabinet noted that citizens did not observe anti-epidemiological measures properly. However, according to Pashinyan, anti-epidemiological measures were not observed not only by citizens, but also by members of the government. <If these measures were followed, we would have a decline in the number of diseases. And if this continues, then we will not be able to defeat this challenge. But, we must understand that we must learn to live with coronavirus, since it is not known how long thepandemic will last. Sometimes people are forced to change their norms of behavior due to objective and subjective reasons>, he stressed.
Pashinyan recalled that there were strict restrictions in the country. <However, the number of patients with coronavirus continues to increase, because in gazebos and on the streets people continued to communicate and infected each other. If we manage to maintain a stable situation, that is, 500-600 people, our healthcare system will be able withstand. Otherwise, we will have no choice but to return to strict restrictions. Thus, we will cause serious damage to our economy. The solution to the problem I see in the cooperation of citizens with the government. I myself, as a person who may not have properly observed the rules, undertake to comply with all security measures>, the Prime Minister emphasized.
The head of the Cabinet called on citizens to realize the seriousness of the situation. <All risks should be considered. This pandemic will not end tomorrow, or in a month. We must adapt to the conditions of the new world and prove our right to exist. I am sure that we will be able to defeat the pandemic, but only by joint efforts>, Pashinyan concluded.
It should be noted that this morning the Armenian government decided to extend the state of emergency until July 13.
