ArmInfo. The decrease in escalation is the most important area of diplomatic activity for Armenia. The Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stated this on June 11 during a joint meeting of the standing parliamentary committees to discuss the report on the implementation of the state budget for 2019.
The Minister noted that the security of Armenia and Artsakh, as well as the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh issue, continue to remain the most important foreign policy direction. Mnatsakanyan noted that the Armenian position on this issue was repeatedly voiced at the level of the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Republic of Armenia. It was pointed out that over the past year, two agreements have been reached regarding the preparation of peoples for peace and the creation of a favorable environment for peace, as part of which an exchange of media representatives was carried out between Armenia, Artsakh and Azerbaijan. In addition, on June 28, 2019, Armenia, without preconditions, returned to Azerbaijan citizen Ibragimov, who illegally crossed the state border on March 16 of the same year, and Azerbaijan handed over to Armenia citizen Karapetyan, who appeared on June 21, 2017 in the territory of Azerbaijan, on unclear circumstances. "The issue of Armenian citizens on the territory of Azerbaijan has been and remains in the focus of attention of the RA MFA," Mnatsakanyan emphasized.
As noted, the decline in escalation is the most important direction of diplomatic activity for Armenia. He drew attention to the fact that Armenia clearly formulated its approaches to the resolution of the Karabakh issue, moreover, they were voiced at different platforms.
The Foreign Minister also pointed to the strengthening of cooperation between Armenia and Artsakh in different directions over the past year.
