ArmInfo. Despite the fact that a large part of the responsibility undoubtedly lies with the authorities, the coronavirus is a problem that affects any citizen of Armenia, an MP of the parliamentary fraction ''My Step'' Artur Hovhannisyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
''The reality is that against the backdrop of the difficult struggle that each of us today is trying to wage with the spread of COVID-19, the so-called opposition political forces, who in fact are fulfilling somene's instructions, are trying to make benefits on this situation. For these people, the main thing is political gain, but not the health of our citizens, "he said.
According to the lawmaker, this explains the constant criticism, dissatisfaction, and demands on the authorities by forces acting from opposition positions. At the same time, not a single, more or less reasonable proposal, let alone a package of proposals to the government to get out of the current situation in the country, was voiced by these forces.
At the same time, the parliamentarian does not think that for the overwhelming part of the Armenian society, people voicing calls for the resignation of the government may be at least to some extent acceptable. First of all, due to the consistent work of the government towards mitigating the consequences of the coronavirus epidemic. An assessment of those who put sticks in the wheel of the government for the narrow-purpose goals in the current difficult situation, in his opinion, will be made at the end of the epidemic.
Agreeing with a number of points of criticism of the government, Hovhannisyan emphasized that this is a meaningful, constructive criticism, which at the same time contains solutions and ways out of the current situation. Such criticism, like any reasonable proposal, the authorities, according to his estimates, always willingly accept. The MP characterizes the rest of the criticism as directed solely at receiving political dividends.
''Our health care system has been deprived of the due level of funding for decades. And the initiated criminal cases demonstrate that the allocated funds did not reach the addressees. In my opinion, in this light, the health system is in fact doing more work than it can afford. Moreover, during the quarantine period, control was not carried out at the proper level. Among the reasons are the shortcomings and omissions of the power structures and the incomplete perception of our citizens of the dangers that we all face with the coronavirus>, Hovhannisyan concluded.
