ArmInfo. The process of transferring the military-industrial complex from the sphere of the Ministry of Defense to the sphere of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry is starting in Armenia. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, at its first reading on June 3, amended the laws On Military-Industrial Complex and On Defense.
According to the Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Gore Melikyan, the initiative was dictated by structural changes in the government and the formation of a new ministry in January 2019 with the transfer of military-industrial activities from the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of High-Tech Industry. <The bill proposes to specify the jurisdiction of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry in relation to the country's military-industrial complex, as well as all military-industrial activities, as well as to identify the functions and responsibilities of other departments, "the deputy minister said.
According to him, the bill also involves the use of training grounds of the Ministry of Defense for testing the latest technologies. As noted by Melikyan, the redistribution of the management functions of the military-industrial complex will provide not only the Ministry of Defense, but also the police, the National Security Service and the Ministry of Emergencies with the necessary latest technologies. He also said that discussions are underway on the state order of DEFENSE INDUSTRY for 2021. We are mainly talking about research, design and production activities. Work is also ongoing towards the development of long- term programs.
