ArmInfo. The institution of criminal liability in relation to legal entities will be introduced in Armenia. Amendments to the Criminal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure were approved at a meeting of the RA Government on May 21. The package in the manner prescribed by law will be sent to the National Assembly of the country.
According to RA Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan, the package implements numerous alternative preventive measures, which, ultimately, will lead to a significant reduction in the number of arrests. Amendments will lead to conceptual changes, and the effectiveness of criminal procedure will increase. A number of types of operational-search activities will be included in the framework of investigative measures.
The Minister emphasized that the bills were developed by a working group of specialists from Yerevan State University with the assistance of the Council of Europe. Rustam Badasyan added that today the conceptual provisions of the package will be posted on the official website of the RA Ministry of Justice.
In turn, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, pointing out the importance of the package approved today, expressed hope that its adoption and application will fundamentally change the legal situation in the country.
