ArmInfo. In Armenia, 54% of coronavirus patients who are in critical condition recovered. This was announced on May 15 by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Torosyan in an interview with the Armenian service of Radio Liberty.
Torosyan informed that deaths due to COVID-19 among patients in extremely serious condition make up 46% in the republic, which is a satisfactory indicator taking into account statistics from other countries (70- 80%). According to the voiced data, in Armenia pneumonia was diagnosed in 690 patients with coronavirus, 32 patients are in an extremely serious condition, 65 are in a serious condition, 11 are connected to a ventilator. Torosyan noted that, despite the increase in daily recorded new cases, the number of patients in serious and extremely serious condition remains stable. A similar picture has developed in the case of patients with COVID-19 connected to a ventilator: on average, their number ranges from 9-10. Torosyan informed that probably in the future Armenia will not go by fixing all cases of coronavirus by testing potential patients. This applies primarily to asymptomatic patients, in the case of which laboratory examination fades into the background. According to the minister, this practice, when testing is not an end in itself, is used in many countries, including Russia. Meanwhile, the scope of testing will be preserved if possible: it is about 900-1000 tests for coronavirus per day. Torosyan explained a slight increase in the number of tests conducted in the last days of the process by the mass discharge of isolated citizens from quarantine zones. It was previously noted that the practice of isolating contactees will not be applied, and instead, these citizens will go to self-isolation.
In total, 4044 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the republic, 1660 people recovered, 52 died. Currently, 2304 patients are receiving actual treatment.
