ArmInfo. MP from the "My Step" faction Artak Manukyan was invited to the Special Investigation Service to give explanations in connection with the brawl in the parliament on May 8. This was announced by Manukyan himself on his Facebook page.
Recall that on May 8 the work of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia was temporarily interrupted due to the conflict that arose between the head of the Enlightened Armenia faction Edmond Marukyan and the deputy of the National Assembly from the My Step faction Sasun Mikayelyan. Other deputies of the Armenian parliament were also involved in the assault. Clarification of relations with the participation of parliamentarians continued during the announced break, after which the conflicting parties finally dispersed.
On the same day, commenting on the incident, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan called the incident a provocation and stated that he had reason to believe that Edmon Marukyan and his faction were part of a specific plan to render moral, psychological and physical violence against the ruling force. According to him, for two years now, the ruling political force, including the My Step parliamentary faction, has been constantly attacked, and women deputies from the ruling bloc on social networks have been threatened with reprisal and also threatened to kill their children. The purpose of this, as Pashinyan noted, is to undermine the confidence that has developed between the country's authorities and the people. At the same time, according to him, this pressure began with the adoption of the law "On Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property", and behind these provocative actions are forces serving the former authorities. We add that the incident is being investigated by the Special Investigation Service.
