ArmInfo. There is no alternative to a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and Armenia is focused on practical work, has carried out this practical work for two years and intends to continue further. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said this on May 12 during his speech at the CIS Ministerial Council, in response to statements by his counterpart from Azerbaijan.
"Threats by force, the use of force are rejected, and these accents that I heard today are categorically rejected. The resolution of this conflict is based on the principle of compromise: it means also denying the maximalist positions of either side, and comparing the obligations that all parties take on themselves to achieve a balanced, lasting compromise, "the Armenian minister emphasized. At the same time, he added that with this attitude, Armenia will continue to work within the framework of the peace process with the intentions of achieving an exclusively peaceful resolution of the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, during his speech, accused the Armenian leadership of trying to prevent the activation of the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict, thereby creating new threats to stability and security in the region. "Azerbaijan is committed to a speedy political settlement of the conflict. Along with this, negotiations cannot continue forever and should not serve to continue and maintain the situation that has arisen as a result of the use of force, occupation and ethnic cleansing. Azerbaijan has the right to restore territorial integrity within the framework of internationally recognized borders. The speedy settlement of conflict, based on the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of the borders of states, will certainly contribute to regional and international security, social progress and the strengthening of economic cooperation in the region ", - said Mammadyarov.
