ArmInfo. The lack of transition from occasional solutions to system solutions 2 years after the revolution in Armenia is our main problem, the head of the Analytical Centre on Globalization and Regional Cooperation Stepan Grigoryan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
"Yes, we are in a serious fight against corruption, police have stopped lawlessness, there are no restrictions on the work of the media, political prisoners have been released from prisons, and customs officers and tax officials do not terrorize business. We appreciate all this very much, however, Prime Minister Pashinyan hasn't implemented the promised lustration yet. There are still the Constitution and the Electoral Code adopted by the previous government. A full package of anti-corruption laws has not been adopted, while the adopted package of laws on the judicial system does not contain the institution of vetting, "he stressed. Meanwhile, according to Grigoryan's estimates, citizens rose to fight against the former regime precisely under the slogans of fighting corruption, against the permissiveness of officials and oligarchs, against the constitution imposed on them and the shameful Electoral Code, which does not allow the election of a multi-party parliament. The political scientist also pointed to the young age of Pashinyan's team and the lack of political and managerial experience among many officials. The coronavirus, on which the government is focused today is another problem. In this light, the internal situation in Armenia, according to his estimates, is rather complicated today. And all this is well understood in Russia, for the leadership of which the revolutionary Pashinyan continues to be an undesirable political figure. According to Grigoryan's estimates, the Russian authorities went on the attack against the leadership of Armenia, which, among other things, is evidenced by recent statements by Foreign Minister Lavrov on the settlement of the Artsakh conflict and the problems of the Armenian-Russian relations. The political scientist believes that Lavrov's recent statements are aimed at weakening the position of Prime Minister Pashinyan and activating the former corrupt authorities of Armenia to fight the new Armenia. "Against this background, it is obvious that lustration could help Pashinyan cleanse the administrative system of corrupt officials and agents of influence. He still hasn't done this, which allows the above-mentioned persons not only to be honest and concerned about the future of Armenia, but also toughly criticize the authorities. There are direct saboteurs inside the state apparatus, as evidenced by some recent events. The prime minister sees all this, understands, speaks about it, but takes no steps to eliminate the threats, " the political scientist summarized.
