ArmInfo."The Karabakh issue can be resolved solely through compromise, we won't make unilateral concessions," Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan stated at a meeting of the parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Relations on May 4.
The Minister emphasized that no one should believe that Armenia would take steps that would involve concessions and that would harm national security. Mnatsakanyan also touched upon a statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the Karabakh issue. <The Spokespersons of the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Russia made relevant statements on this issue. It seems to me that there is nothing to add new. Do not delve into this matter>, the Minister said. He also stated that the security of Artsakh is the most important for Armenia. <Our main task is to ensure existential security. But I want to assure you that there will be no return to April 2016, moreover, there will be no return to 1991-1994. For this we have quite enough determination. There is a national consensus on this issue, which only strengthens the position of the Armenian side>, the Armenian Foreign Minister emphasized.
To note, on April 21 during an online round table organized by the Gorchakov Foundation, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov, stated the importance of implementing the UN Security Council resolution on the Karabakh conflict and that there is an option for its phased settlement on the table. This is a document that was considered in April 2019 in Moscow at a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan with the participation of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
In turn, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan responded to this statement, noting that the Armenian side will not agree on a solution that would jeopardize the security of citizens of the Artsakh Republic. According to him, such approaches were proposed in 2014, 2016, but they are unacceptable for the Armenian side.
