ArmInfo. Starting today, based on security measures and organizational considerations, the entrance to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex will be closed until April 24 inclusive. This was announced on April 21 by the head of the Prime Minister's Office Eduard Aghajanyan during a press conference in the Single Information Center of the Republic of Armenia.
He said that the events dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire will be marked by bell rings of churches at 21:00 on April 23. At this hour, street lighting in Yerevan and in the regional centers of the country will go out. At the same time, Agadzhanyan urged citizens to follow a similar example in their apartments, directing the light of mobile phones through the windows, thereby symbolizing the unity of presence around the eternal flame. He noted that citizens will be able to follow the event at the Memorial Complex online on Public Television, where the bright memorial minute will be marked by the song "Ari im sohak" (Come my nightingale) performed by Liana Aleksanyan and Kamo Seyranyan.
With regards to April 24, Agadzhanyan said that at 10:00 a delegation consisting of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the President of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and the Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II will arrive at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex to pay tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The ceremony of worshiping the victims of the Armenian Genocide will be accompanied by live performance by pianist, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Hayk Melikyan.
At that, from 08:00, Armenian citizens will be able to send messages with their names to the short number 1915, and representatives of the Diaspora and residents of other countries to 0037433191500, thereby confirming their presence on the memorial day. During the day, the names of the poisoned messages of citizens will be displayed on the walls of the Memorial.
In addition, from 22:00 until dawn, a program of performances by state groups and soloists is expected, which will perform both classical and folk works.
