ArmInfo. In Armenia, the number of laboratory tests for coronavirus is increasing. As the head of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Torosyan said at a press conference on April 2, the volume of tests conducted in the republic in the daily context reaches 400-500.
According to the minister, in the near future it is expected to supply appropriate equipment that will allow daily up to 1,500 tests for COVID-19. Answering the question of whether it is worth introducing mandatory testing for coronavirus for the entire population of the country, Torosyan noted that this is possible only theoretically, but not practically. In particular, he drew attention to the fact that tests in patients with COVID-19 were performed twice to confirm the fact of their recovery. Thus, in the case of the introduction of preventive testing, the population will also be forced to periodically pass an appropriate coronavirus test.
"In this case, a legitimate question will arise with what frequency laboratory testing should be carried out," Torosyan noted.
To note, according to the latest data in Armenia, the total number of registered patients with coronavirus is 663, 33 patients are recovered, four died. To date, 626 citizens receive treatment.
