ArmInfo.Edmon Marukyan, leader of the Enlightened Armenia faction, appealed to a political consensus on the work of the National Assembly of Armenia on March 24 at a plenary session of the parliament.
According to him, it is unethical when the country's top leadership in a state of emergency calls on citizens to social distance, minimize contacts, the country's parliament continues to work. Thus, as the deputy noted, a bad message is sent to the country's population. He called on his colleagues to vote against the submitted agenda, not to secure a quorum, and thereby resolve this issue. Marukyan emphasized that, together with the deputies, the staff of the NA apparatus was forced to go to work, thereby jeopardizing their health. "We all use microphones, door handles, we don't use face masks, and against this background we'll set an example for citizens, especially after yesterday's appeal from the head of government," - said Marukyan, urging colleagues to gather only in emergency cases that directly relate to the state of emergency and the country's economy.
In turn, the speaker of the parliament Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the issue can be discussed if it is presented relevant draft law. He noticed that life goes on, and even against this background, it is important to continue the work of parliament.
It should be noted that as of 10:00 a.m. March 24, 235 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Armenia, two of which are already cured. In more than 20 cases, pneumonia was detected in patients, although most of them feel good, with a low temperature. Only in one patient does the temperature exceed 39 degrees. In connection with the epidemic, it was decided from today to close all restaurants and cafes, as well as manufacturing enterprises except those that produce food products. An exception will be made only to delivery services. This decision was dictated by the fact that new infectious cases were recorded at various manufacturing enterprises: in the Kotayk region adjacent to Yerevan and in the metropolitan area of Erebuni. Recall that in Armenia from March 16 to April 14 there is a state of emergency.
