<Based on the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia from 03.16.2020 on declaring a state of emergency in the Republic of Armenia and being guided by Article 208 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and part 1 of Article 6 of the Constitutional Law "On the Referendum", the CEC reports that all work, processes and activities carried out with the aim of preparing and holding a referendum on constitutional amendments The Republic of Armenia is being terminated by all participants in the process>, the report says.
A constitutional referendum was originally scheduled for April 5, but due to the introduction of a state of emergency, it was postponed. As Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the day before, the referendum will be held 50 days after the cancellation of the state of emergency. The regime itself, introduced due to the situation with coronavirus on April 16, will remain in effect until 17:00 on April 14.
