ArmInfo. The Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Artsakh commented on the statement by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu voiced during the meeting with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmen
The statement in particualr reads: ''Turkey is not impartial on the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict and cannot play any positive role. It is a fact that Turkey is an ally of Azerbaijan: since 1988, the beginning of the Karabakh Movement and throughout the Azerbaijan-Karabakh conflict, Turkey has supported Azerbaijan. Moreover, in April 2016, Turkey openly supported Azerbaijan's military aggression unleashed against Artsakh, despite the calls by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmen and, in general, the international community to immediately cease the hostilities. The policy of Ankara on unconditional support for Azerbaijan not only contradicts the status of Turkey as a member of the OSCE Minsk Group, but also undermines the efforts of the international mediators aimed at the final settlement of the Azerbaijan- Karabakh conflict.
To note, the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov (Russian Federation), Stefan Visconti (France), Andrew Schaefer (USA) and the personal representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk paid a visit to Turkey. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met with the co- chairs and Andrzej Kasprzyk.
Cavusoglu said during a meeting with mediators that the OSCE Minsk Group should act more actively to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Minister noted that the conflict should be resolved on the basis of sovereignty and within the internationally recognized borders of Azerbaijan.
Commenting on this meeting and the prospects of Turkey's involvement in the peace negotiations, the Armenian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan, in particular, said: "Given the unfriendly policy towards Armenia and the Armenian people, which is also reflected in the unilateral military and political support of Azerbaijan in the context of Nagorno-Karabakh of the conflict, Turkey cannot play any role in the peaceful resolution of this conflict. "
Earlier, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, responding on Twitter to the statement of Cavusoglu, quoted a chapter from the New Testament: "Physician, heal thyself."
