ArmInfo. The names of the Chief of Police and the Director of the National Security Service will be published on March 19. On March 4, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this from the rostrum of the Parliament, answering the question of the National Assembly MP Arman Babajanyan.
The MP, in particular, recalled that on March 19, according to the current legislation, the six-month term of office of the acting heads of these departments expires. He asked the head of government whether he had made a decision on the candidates.
In response, Nikol Pashinyan confirmed that he had decided on this issue, and the names of the heads of the Police and the NSS will be published on March 19. The Prime Minister stated that there are numerous problems in the legal system, but they cannot be linked only with the Police or the NSS. "There are problems in the entire state system, the main thing is to determine the diagnosis, to the determination of which we are closer than ever," the head of government said.
It should be noted that six months ago, former Chief of the Police Valery Osipyan and Director of the National Security Service, Arthur Vanetsyan, resigned. Since then, these positions have remained vacant. By the decision of the Prime Minister, Eduard Martirosyan was appointed Acting Director of the NSS, and Arman Sargsyan was appointed Acting Chief of Police.
