ArmInfo. It is undeniable that the Armenian-Georgian cooperation is the main guarantor of ensuring regional security. The head of the Armenian government, Nikol Pashinyan, said this on March 3 in Tbilisi during a joint briefing with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgy Gakharia.
In this context, he touched upon regional conflicts and expressed his conviction that there is no alternative to their peaceful resolution. "I am sure that each conflict has its own characteristics and from this point of view I consider it important to maintain a balanced position on issues sensitive to each other," said the Armenian Prime Minister.
At the same time, he recalled that the development of relations with neighboring Georgia is one of the most important foreign policy priorities of Armenia and for this there are all the prerequisites. According to the head of the Armenian executive body, the historical ties between the two countries create fertile ground for the realization of this goal.
Pashinyan also expressed his conviction that the new realities in Armenia, as well as the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries to build a common future based on democratic values, are one of the most important makings for this.
The Armenian Prime Minister assured that the rule of law and the victory of democracy in the RA open up new opportunities for Armenian-Georgian cooperation, and his visit to Tbilisi is designed to continue the intensive dialogue that began in Yerevan last October between the two countries.
He informed that he had discussed with a Georgian counterpart a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, the importance of development was indicated cooperation in energy, transport and other promising areas, strengthening transit potential and not only in land communications, but also in electric and telecommunications.
"We made proposals for cooperation in such areas as information technology, science and education. We proposed the implementation of steps to strengthen the interaction between civil societies of the two countries," the Prime Minister said.
In turn, Gakharia expressed confidence that this visit of Pashinyan would be effective for citizens of the two countries in terms of economic and security development.
Also declaring the discussion of a wide range of issues on the agenda of relations between the two countries, the Prime Minister of Georgia emphasized that further areas of Armenian-Georgian cooperation were outlined. "The development of democracy is extremely important for our region from both an economic and cultural point of view. We are unshakable on the issue of Euro-Atlantic integration. And despite the differences in positions with the Armenian side on a number of issues, I do not think that this issue is such," said the Georgian prime minister, recalling Tbilisi's commitment to develop cooperation within the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership program.
