ArmInfo. On March 2, members of the Armenia-Kuwait parliamentary Friendship Group met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to the Republic of Armenia, Mr. Nawaf Alenezi. This was reported by the press service of the parliament.
Stressing the importance of partnerships with the countries of the region, head of the Friendship Group Gor Gevorgyan noted that Armenians as a whole have a special place in the Middle East and are historically connected with the Arab people. According to Gevorgyan, in 1994 the relevant documents were signed on establishing diplomatic relations between Armenia and Kuwait, in 2002 - the parliamentary Friendship Group Armenia-Kuwait was formed, in 2011 the Kuwaiti embassy was opened in the Republic of Armenia. He noted that Armenia is interested in deepening relations with Kuwait on the political, parliamentary, economic levels, emphasized the presence of broad prospects for the development of cooperation in a number of areas.
The head of the Friendship Groupthanked the Ambassador for his moderate and constructive position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He assured that the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia is ready for close cooperation with the State of Kuwait.
In turn, Nawaf Alenezi emphasized the importance of developing inter-parliamentary relations and the role of friendship groups in this matter. Touching upon the possibilities of using the trade and economic potential of the two countries, the ambassador turned to cooperation in the agricultural, tourism, educational sectors, and investments. The parties exchanged views on issues of agriculture, road construction, the organization of direct flights between Yerevan and Kuwait, and the involvement of Armenian specialists in the Kuwaiti labor market.
