ArmInfo. Armenia contributes to the settlement of the Palestinian conflict on the basis of the principle of two states. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said this on February 24 during a joint press conference with the Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak.
"Recognizing the right of Israel to a safe and peaceful state for its citizens, we are simultaneously assisting the Palestinian people in striving to create an independent state by realizing the right to self-determination," the Armenian Foreign Minister noted. At the same time, he emphasized that the focus of Yerevan is the development of the situation around the status of Jerusalem, given the centuries-old Armenian presence and rich heritage. "Armenia considers East Jerusalem as part of the territories occupied in 1967 and its final status should be determined as a result of negotiations between interested parties," Mnatsakanyan summed up.
Earlier, the Israeli Army said it attacked the positions of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group in Syria and the Gaza Strip. "We have just hit Islamic terrorist targets in Syria and Gaza in response to missiles launched by Israeli civilians today," a statement said on Twitter.
On the eve of the Israeli military said that in the first two waves of shelling by militants 21 missiles were fired at Ashkelon and border villages, 13 of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system.
As a result of Israeli retaliatory attacks on Gaza, according to the Ministry of Health, four Palestinians were injured.
Another exacerbation on the border of the Palestinian enclave began after an Israeli strike on Sunday by a group of Palestinians who, according to the Israeli army, tried to lay an explosive device at the separation fence, began on the border. The army noted that these same people participated in attempts to place explosives on the border.
