ArmInfo. The Ministry of Justice of Armenia will deal with the issue of territories misappropriated by former officials. This was discussed at today's government meeting. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that there were facts that some of the mansions were built without permission, that is, illegally.
Press secretary of Yerevan Mayor Hakob Karapetyan stated this on his Facebook page. <The question of the legality of the income of individuals who have been government officials for decades is still in question. With these funds, castles were erected, communal lands were appropriated and / or houses were built without permission>, he noted.
Karapetyan also drew attention to the fact that officials did not pay property taxes and avoided other state duties. "By and large, this means that they ignored not only the requirements of formal legality, but also the interests of society and the country," he emphasized, noting that people with a similar worldview have held high ranks in the country for many years.
In this regard, the spokesperson referred to the family of former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, who, according to him, applied to the municipality to legalize the construction on communal lands. Having not received a positive response, the former prime minister's family went to court to oblige the city hall to legitimize the building.
To note, today, Nikol Pashinyan at a government meeting announced that former officials, using their official position, illegally appropriated the territory of the capital of the republic, after which they also carried out illegal constructions on them, which they later demanded to legalize. Moreover, the legislation was drafted in such a way that the Yerevan municipality was obliged to legalize them. The prime minister turned to the Minister of Justice with a corresponding request, to which Rustam Badasyan noted that he did not have the information and promised to sort it out and report.
