Yervand Manaryan was born on August 10, 1924 in Arak (Iran). He studied at the Haykazyan Armenian school in Iran, as well as at the American and Persian colleges in Tehran. Repatriated to Armenia in 1946. He graduated from the directing department of the Yerevan Theater Institute; as a director and actor, he worked in a number of Armenian theaters. As a film actor, he brilliantly expressed himself in a number of popular films, including the "Bride from the North", released in 1975.
