ArmInfo.Akhtala mining and processing plant workers stopped the strike, which began on February 12. Chairman of the Branch Union of Trade Union Organizations of Miners, Metallurgists and Jewellers of Republic of Armenia Eduard Pahlevanyan informed ArmInfo correspontent.
Yesterday, Pahlevanyan met with the leadership of the Akhtala mining and processing plant, during which the demands of about 50 strikers were discussed. As a result of the negotiations, it was decided to satisfy all eight points of the protesting workers of the plant, which related to raising wages and improving working conditions. According to Pahlevanyan, the average salary in the plant, which is 200-250 thousand drams, will be increased by 30-40%. <The end of the strike does not mean that there are no more problems. Ahead is a process to bring working conditions in line with existing safety standards and rules>, he said.
To note, the Akhtala mining and processing plant operates the Shamlukh copper deposit in the Lori region of Armenia.
