<In accordance with the requirements of the law, today the Artsakh Conservative Party submitted to the Central Election Commission the documents necessary for registering presidential candidate David Babayan with the aim of participating in national elections scheduled for March 31, 2020. In addition, documents were submitted for registering the Artsakh Conservative Party's electoral list to participate in the parliamentary elections,> Babayan said on his Facebook page.
On March 31, 2020, presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Artsakh. In addition, the new Constitution of the republic will enter into force, providing for the expansion of the powers of the president. The intention to participate in the elections has already been announced, in particular, by the former state minister of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan ("Free Homeland" party), speaker of the NKR National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan (Democratic Party of Artsakh), former secretary of the Karabakh Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan ("Justice"), Foreign Minister of Karabakh Masis Mayilyan, a number of other public and political figures.
At the same time, the current President of Artsakh, Bako Sahakyan, said in June last year that he would not participate in these elections.
