ArmInfo. The European People's Party touched upon the process of initiating constitutional reforms in Armenia. This is stated on the Party's Twitter page. The record, in particular, states: "The EPP is concerned by the rushed procedure to initiate changes to the Armenian Constitution. We call on the authorities of Armenia to request and consider the opinion of the Venice Commission as soon as possible."
It should be noted that on February 10, Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan announced that he had a telephone conversation with President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio. During the conversation, Badasyan presented Buquicchio events related to the amendment of the Constitution and the referendum. "I also conveyed the readiness of the Armenian side to continue close cooperation with the Council of Europe and the Commission in the field of judicial reform," the minister concluded.
To recall, on April 5 a constitutional referendum will be held in Armenia, at which the issue of judges of the Constitutional Court will be decided.
