ArmInfo. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, who is on a working visit to Israel, met with Governor General of Canada Julie Payette. This was reported by the press service of the RA President.
Sarkissian noted that relations between the two countries have great potential, for the disclosure of which it is necessary to make progress in opening the Canadian Embassy in Armenia. The interlocutors emphasized the great contribution of the Armenian community of Canada to its history, noting that it is a reliable bridge connecting two friendly countries.
The parties also noted that they can cooperate in the fields of education, science, high technology. President Sarkissian, presenting the ATOM (Advanced Tomorrow) presidential initiative aimed at the development of technology and science in Armenia, noted that the goal of this multi-component program is to attract international information and high-tech companies to Armenia, where they can implement programs for the development of artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling etc.
The President invited the Governor of Canada to visit Armenia and take part in the 6th STARMU International Festival, designed to attract young people to the scientific knowledge.
