ArmInfo. Chief of the General Staff of Armenia Artak Davtyan reacted to the message about theft of jet fuel in the Ministry of Defense.
"The General Staff of Armenia strongly condemns such phenomena as embezzlement and the Armed Forces are consistently working to eliminate such manifestations, as well as to bring the perpetrators to justice in accordance with the law," Davtyan said in an interview with the state agency Armenpress.
At the same time, he called on everyone to refrain from manipulating on this issue and publishing any figures regarding the case until the completion of the investigation and the issuance of a court verdict. Davtyan stated that, as a rule, after the trial is over, the picture changes significantly.
Earlier, the National Security Service of Armenia reported on the fact of theft of 85 tons of jet fuel in the Ministry of Defense of the country.
Thus, according to the agency's report, thanks to the operational investigative measures taken, the NSS officers received information that a group of military personnel of the No. Military Unit of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, during a preliminary conspiracy and using official powers, plundered and sold between July and December 2019 about 85 tons of jet fuel worth more than 40 million drams allocated for scheduled training flights.
The above persons were caught red-handed at the regular sale of 640 liters of fuel, they have already given confession statements. A criminal case has been instituted on the fact, which was sent to the Investigative Committee for the implementation of investigative measures.
