ArmInfo. The process of accepting applications of candidates for joining the commission on constitutional reforms has begun. The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Rustam Badasyan wrote about this on his Facebook page.
According to his record, from January 13, the start of accepting applications from candidates for their inclusion in the composition of the commission on constitutional reform. "It is worth recalling that six legal scholars and two representatives will also be included on a competitive basis in the commission to be created within the framework of the judicial system reform strategy in civil society>, the minister noted.
Badasyan said earlier that in February 2020 a professional group will be formed to deal with issues designing constitutional reforms. "The professional data collection group will determine the directions in which reforms are needed and will act apolitically," Badasyan said, emphasizing that this, among other things, will solve the crisis around the Constitutional Court. But at the same time, as the Minister noted, mandatory changes will be provided, in particular, the possibility of challenging acts of the Supreme Judicial Council. "The country had a negative experience when the current government independently determined what should change and why. We will not go the same way, we will give the opportunity for the professional community to independently determine the initiatives that they consider it necessary to change," Badasyan emphasized.
Recall that the last time a referendum on constitutional reforms in Armenia was held in Armenia on December 6, 2015.
