ArmInfo.Intervention in the professional activities of a journalist is unacceptable, regardless of sympathy or antipathy. This was stated by the Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan, whose words are quoted by the public relations department of the RA Human Rights Defender's office in connection with the attack on the journalists of the Kentron TV.
According to the source, the Ombudsman believes that a journalist or any other media outlet is simply doing its professional job. "In this way, they guarantee the right of each of us, the entire public, to receive information. Their work is protected by the Constitution and the laws of our country," the statement of the Human Rights Defender reads. According to him, the attitude to the members of the crew of the news program of the Kentron television channel is alarming and worthy of condemnation. "Any person must act in accordance with the law, respect the rights and dignity of others and not interfere with the professional activities of others," the Ombudsman said in a statement.
It should be noted that on December 24 several people attacked the journalists of the Kentron TV channel in the village of Hovtashat and broke the video camera. The shooting group came to cover the conflict that arose on the territory of fisheries. The authors of the report claim that the people who attacked the journalists identified themselves as residents of the village of Hovtashat. "This territory is mine, my village, and you have no right to film here until the journalists of other media come," one of the villagers told the crew. Journalists in their material argue that before the police arrived, <the villagers took out live fish in three cars, and also beat a fishery worker. Presumably, the fish was transported to the farm belonging to the village headman, "the authors of the report noted, adding that representatives of the television company wrote a statement on the fact of the incident. No injuries were reported.
To recall, this incident was the second in a week after the attack on the newspaper Zhogovurd. On the night of December 19, unidentified persons entered the editorial office of the Zhogovurd (People) newspaper, scattered things, and carried off a surveillance camera. The management of the publication regarded the incident as an attempt to pressure. The police began a check in connection with the invasion of the newspaper's office. Human rights activists called the attack on the editorial board a deterrent.
