As the press service of the Armenian Embassy in Turkmenistan told ArmInfo, the meeting was attended by authorized representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
Meanwhile, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports that the meeting participants discussed security challenges and threats at the global and regional levels, and considered the possibility of expanding collective counterterrorism activities within the framework of international organizations. The role of the UN and its specialized structures in the international cooperation on countering terrorism and its financial support was emphasized. The parties noted the importance of the CIS and its industry bodies as the main platform for strategic cooperation. The possibilities of expanding interaction between the competent authorities of the participating countries, as well as the provision of necessary legal assistance, were examined.
The parties also exchanged views on preventive measures to counter extremism, radicalization of the population and the financing of terrorism. In this context, the need to engage civil society and the media was noted. The possibilities of conducting special trainings, including the use of modern technologies for timely response to potential threats, were considered.
Following the meeting, the parties adopted the Protocol of consultations on the topic "On the interaction of the CIS member states in the fight against terrorism: common challenges and threats".
