Armenia attaches importance to a high level of political relations with Germany, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papkiyan stated on November 12, when accepting the delegation of Germany led by German Ambassador to the RA Michael Johannes Banzhav.
As the press-service of the Ministry informs, the Minister noted that the new opportunities created by the long-term effective cooperation between the parties, allow for multifaceted success. Referring to the process of administrative and territorial reform in the Republic of Armenia, the Minister praised the role of GIZ and other international organizations in the program "Effective local government in the South Caucasus" and their support in the development of the economic potential and the capacity of communities in the country. <Given the fact that the administrative-territorial reform enter a new phase in Armenia it is important for us to continue this cooperation and increase its effectiveness ", - the minister said, adding that in the spring of next year after the elections to local self-government the next stage of unification of communities will be launched. The current phase of the administrative-territorial reform is coming to an end. In turn, Karin Jahr de Guerrero, member of the delegation GIZ responsible for Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus, on behalf of the German government, thanked for reliable and effective cooperation and expressed hope that mutually beneficial programs would continue in the future. "Germany has been cooperating with Armenia for many years in the field of effective community management, noting the positive results, especially in improving public services. We also have many years of experience working together in the field of infrastructure development, in which the role of the German bank KfW is also noticeable," Karin Jahr de Guerrero noted.
Minister Suren Papikyan also emphasized the importance of partnership with KfW Bank, stressing that the Armenian government is guided by the principle of the targeted use of credit resources for the effective implementation of infrastructure improvement programs.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of issues of mutual interest related to water resources management and construction of reservoirs, development of energy infrastructure and regional energy projects.
